By default, if Active Shield finds some malicious program or activity, Alert screen appears. In this window you can see name and full path to suspicious object or threat's description from our threats encyclopedia. When such window appears, you should select, what to do with this threat:

Shield me - Active Shield tries to solve this problem. The solution varies depending on threats kind. Note that any time you can undo this operation. Learn more about restoring from backups.

Ignore - Active Shield will simply ignore this problem.

Do it Always. If you check this field, Active Shield will apply selected action to all threats of such kind. If the threat is some file or registry record and you've selected "Shield me", this file or record will be added in Active Shield's Black List. If the threat is some file or registry record and you've selected "Ignore", this file or record will be added in Active Shield's White List.

Active Shield finds and eliminates malicious programs using large database of "stamps" - signs of destructive activity. But rarely a good program can have one of such stamps in its code. So we doesn't give 100% warranty that Active Shield can't make a mistake and report about malicious file that actually is a good one. However, you can prevent any possibility of such error. Just follow two easy rules:

Read the description of the thread attentively. If you are sure that it is not a malicious program - just skip it.

If some of your programs don't run after Active Shield's alert, than restore files or registry records that Active Shield has deleted. Learn more about restoring changes

You can set all necessary scanning options in General and Security level tabs of Options dialog. Learn more about setting scanning options.

Update your antivirus databases regularly. New viruses, trojans and spyware appear almost every day. Active Shield should know about this newcomers in order to manage them. Learn more about updating databases.
