XP Home Professional. Packard Bell. Managed to get into program folder for AV8. There was an uninstall executable in there which I ran to uninstall. Upon rebooting I get the following:

Hangs on black screen when trying to boot in normal mode
Hangs straight after loading KDCOM.dll when booting in safe mode.
Hangs while loading recovery console (on hard drive)
