Brontok has been running through my home net for weeks. I Found 1) Security Policy prevents access to the registry even when logging on in safe mode as Administator. 2) Also Folder Options disappeared. I took out the drive and attached via usb to a protected Vista machine and 3)found under D&S/user name/local settings/application data/ about 40 odd folders starting with Brontok.H[ramdom gibberish] and other unknown files which I deleted. The problem now is no access to the registry to remove the key associated with Sembako.???????.exe and also return Adminstrator rights to the system as well as return the folder options back to the system I hope this helps you

A few days back, i was having trouble with my Windows XP. The show hidden files and folders was not working at all. If i selected the button “Show hidden files and folders”, and then press Ok .. the changes would just disappear upon opening the dialog again. &i made many methods to solve this problem .

Method 1:
i went to registry editor by running regedit in the run box.
& then went to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\
Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\Advanced

In the right hand area, press double click hidden and change the value to 1.

Method 2:
1. Click “Start” -> “Run…”
2. Type “regedit” and click “Ok”.
3. Find the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\
Advanced\\Folder\\Hidden\\SHOWALL
4. Looked at the “CheckedValue” key… This should be a DWORD key. If it isn’t, delete the key.
5. Create a new key called “CheckedValue” as a DWORD (hexadecimal) with a value of 1.

& no one of these methods solved the broplem .
i dont know what could i do .
