Hi,

The original AC power adapter of my Dell Inspiron 1545 being broken, I had to purchase a new one. I chose to buy a cheaper adapter with interchangeable plugheads. It has been working for more than three months without a problem.

Lately, however, every time I want to plug in the AC power adapter, QuickSet warns me that (to quote) "The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or higher for best system operation." So basically, this means that I cannot use the laptop in a mobile way anymore, for reasons unknown.

Is there any way that this can get solved by removing QuickSet, or another method? I just don't want to invest the money in an official Dell AC power adapter when this one has been working fine for so long.
