I may be looking at 2 separtate problems. Both AVG and Norton Antivirus detect a Trojan named odegode.dll but is described as BHO.BFS or BHO.BMZ for it's .BAK counterpart. I am unable to remove, delete or rename these in any way, even with out tools (I'm an IT technician at the Ottawa Hospital). There are, of course corresponding registry entries when using Autoruns to investigate further. We have been able to "clean" the affected machines to the point that they are redirected to http://89.149.227.101/click.php?c=55b33788002350c2d26f4005&r=1 but instead of an unwanted web page, it opens "blank". On first connect to the internet, there is a pop-up warning in the system tray of some sort of urgent chrisis within the PC that by clicking the popup/warning sign will lead to a fix, or scan. This usually takes you to a scan page, but may also take you to other sites, or if left ignored, will open an Internet Explorer window on it's own and to some varying web site. We are using IE6 or higher for our corprate standards. Any help would be greatly appreciated!rnrnThank you, and of course, best of the Season and New Year to you all.rnrnSean LewisrnTechnical Support AnalystrnI.T. cannot remove BHO.BFS trojan horse
Problem Summary: cannot remove BHO.BFS trojan horse
I have a Dell Inspiron 600m laptop running windows XP. It is "protected" by AVG anti-virus freeware version 7.5.516 and virus base updated daily. For some months now, each time the machine boots up, AVG automatically scans the disk and finds that a file - dpwsockv.dll - is infected with trojan horse BHO.BFS. Even when logged in as Administrator (i.e. with, supposedly, full access rights to all files) although AVG gives a message that the file has been healed successfully or, depending on my chosen action, moves the file to the Virus Vault, the problem does not go away.rnFinding the dll file in windows explorer and attempting to remove it results in an "Access Denied" message from windows (presumambly, AVG experinces similar problem. That said, there is a copy of the file in the AVG virus vault, but the file is also still in the C:\windows\system32 folder.rnHave tried booting in safe mode and using Command Prompt to remove the file but with same results. Can you please help! Many thanks, Howard
