Sims2 Nighlife installation problem. Should I download the file?

Problem Summary: Sims2 Nighlife installation problem. Should I download the file?
I\'ve searched this problem and it seems that a huge amount of people have it, though none of the suggestions are helping me. The installation of my Sims 2 Nightlife gets to 1% and tells me that \"A problem occured when trying to transfer the file \'TSData\\Res\\Sound\\SfxKD1.package\' from the media. Do you want to retry to copy the file, or cancel the installation?\"
I\'ve played it before on a crappier computer so I know it used to work. There was a scratch on the disk that i had repaired, so I know it\'s probably that.
Question is, should i just download the damaged/missing file? If so, how?

second Sims deluxe cd isnt working.

Problem Summary: second Sims deluxe cd isnt working.
The first cd installs perfectly, it then asks to put in the second cd and this runs for a few minutes untill a box appears saying \'component transfer error\'. This happens when it is 95% installed. I thought this may be happening as there is a scratch on the cd but there is also a few on the first and that worked fine? If you could help that would be great.
