Problem Summary: zapchest.reg

hi i ran an .exe file that was clearly not what it was labeled and my mccafee began telling me it was deleting \"zapchest.reg\" and began doing this over and over, and it began telling me it had deleted over 100 files, all of which were this same trojan.

i noticed the application was called svudate.exe so i opened task manager, hit end process on that process and tracked it down manually and deleted it.

after that, my mccafee stopped reporting deleting the zapchest.reg file.

i also followed directions to locate autostart files in regedit, but could not find any where it was specified.

i was told to look in the following places as per these instructions:

# Open Registry Editor. Click Start>Run, type REGEDIT, then press Enter.
# In the left panel, double-click the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>
Windows>CurrentVersion>Run
# In the right panel, locate and delete the entry:
Microsoft = \"svUpdate.exe\"

# In the left panel, double-click the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>
Windows>CurrentVersion>RunServices
# In the right panel, locate and delete the entry:
Microsoft = \"svUpdate.exe”

# In the left panel, double-click the following:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>
Windows>CurrentVersion>Run
# In the right panel, locate and delete the entry:
Microsoft = \"svUpdate.exe”

i need to know if this trojan is removed since i didn\'t use any programs to do it and my spyware programs didnt seem to be helping.

please help me!!!
