This problem can be solved manually by deleting all registry keys and files connected with this software, removing it from starup list and unregistering all corresponding DLLs. I was looking for a serial crack for a game, and i downloaded the keygen in a rar file. i managed to crack the game, but suddenly all the files on my desktop disappeared. I tried to reboot, and the pc wrote: "ntldr is missing press CTRL ALT DEL to restart computer"
I managed to copy ntdlr and ntdetect.com files from my original windows CD, so i could reboot my system successfully.
After logging in windows, i noticed, that my files are still missing from my desktop, except THE rar file, which contained the crack, so i deleted it from my computer.
A have a legal Symantec Antivirus on my computer , so i made a virus check (full heuristic scan), but it didn't find any threats...
i am almost sure, that the virus is still on my computer. Do u have any suggestions, how can i get back my deleted files, or detect the virus?

i asked for a file from a "friend" and he ended up sending me a virus as it seemed at the time. it was a java script, as was the file i asked for. when i opened it, it began deleting files on my desktop. immediately i knew what was happening and i pressed the power button on my computer to shut it off. (i was afraid it was stealing important information as well, so i turned off my pc.) when i turned on my pc i got the "NTLDR is missing - Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". I tried to do the XP repair but when i insert my disc my computer will not read it. it seems to skip past it. i would really appreciate help on this subject. and if you need any more information i will be happy to give it to you. i am on my laptop right now.
