wmiprvse displaying banner ads
Problem Summary: wmiprvse displaying banner ads
hello, i was just wondering if you guys have heard of this particular problem...
wmiprvse.exe loads at startup. although this is a windows process, it seems to be infected, and neither of my spyware scanners even pick it up. i religiously unload processes i don't recognize.
its not a major threat. its mainly just displaying banner ads. the process doesn't reactivate itself once its shut down, but the file has a replication ability. i've tried to delete it, and it comes back in 5-10 seconds.
also tried secure file deletion, and delete on reboot with no luck. checking my registry now to see if i have sonebot...
that is negative. i searched for the key, but its not there. however, on a search for wmiprvse.exe, it has 2 keys and is located in c:\windows\system32\wbem. i suspect its able to replicate itself due to another process that works in conjunction with it. thats all i know at this time.
thank you
