Since a while, my computer is very slow (I have a Dell xps M1330, dual core), it takes a lot of time to boot and the process WmiPrvSe.exe is always using the cpu (it can be between 15% and up to 100%).
I had some problems using Dell Quickset program, I can\'t remove it, re-install it (having the error \"This is not a supported system) and I\'ve read that it might be the cause of my problem because it\'s supposed to use WmiPrvSe.exe.
So far, I tried to scan my computer using different softwares (OneLiveScan, AVG, Avast) and they didn\'t find any problems.
I\'ve checked the registry entries and there is no WmiPrvSe.exe key on startup folders.
Can you please help me finding what\'s slowing down my computer ? Usually, I would have formatted the computer but this is not an option since I am in a foreign contry.

My computer is fast but only when it isn\'t plugged into the power. However, when I plug it in, it gets incredibly slow to the point that it is unusable. I am pretty sure that it is the WMIPRVSE.exe that is doing it. My CPU reaches 100% and stays there when plugged in.

hello, i was just wondering if you guys have heard of this particular problem...
wmiprvse.exe loads at startup. although this is a windows process, it seems to be infected, and neither of my spyware scanners even pick it up. i religiously unload processes i don\'t recognize.
its not a major threat. its mainly just displaying banner ads. the process doesn\'t reactivate itself once its shut down, but the file has a replication ability. i\'ve tried to delete it, and it comes back in 5-10 seconds.
also tried secure file deletion, and delete on reboot with no luck. checking my registry now to see if i have sonebot...
that is negative. i searched for the key, but its not there. however, on a search for wmiprvse.exe, it has 2 keys and is located in c:\\windows\\system32\\wbem. i suspect its able to replicate itself due to another process that works in conjunction with it. thats all i know at this time.
