i run a spyware program that is safe and it finds this registry value spyware on advpack.dll. it calls it \"wextract_cleanup0\" and i found out that it was on my start up. so i delete it from the program and remove the registry key. then i remove it permanently from startup using CCleaner. only to find that it comes back 3 seconds later. so i downloaded advpack.dll from the net. safe download. i checked for virus, malware, spyware and all that(nothing found) so i replaced my original one with this one. the problem was still there. how can i solve this problem.

wextract_cleanup0 Registry Change
Problem Summary: wextract_cleanup0 Registry Change
Hi -
Every so often, Ad-Watch give me an alert of a potential Registry change.
It is *NOT* after I\'ve installed a program that day. (For example - It came up today, and the last time that I \"installed\" anything was yesterday, when I added the Windows XP Fax Console by using Add/Remove Windows Components from the Add or Remove Programs window.)
It is also NOT right after startup; today I\'d been up for about 4 hours when it occurred. This is what the alert says:
Attempt to add a registry value
Root: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Value: wextract_cleanup0
Data: (blank)
New Data: rundll32.exe C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\advpack.dll,DelN...
(can\'t read any more of \"New Data\" line)
I\'ve Googled this term & read a LOT of posts, etc, about it, but the consensus is mixed. Some say it\'s part of the cleanup operation after an install; others - like you - say it\'s bad & you need to get rid of it.
If it was happening not long after I\'d installed something - or at least on the same day (or before I\'d rebooted) - I\'d be less concerned.
Could you please tell me once and for all (!) just whether or not I need to worry about \"wextract_cleanup0\" in the circumstances that I\'ve described above?
Thanks very much for your time & assistance!
