Problem Summary: Trojans Keep Coming Back
Hi. I\'m having problems with my computer. AVG warned me of an infection yesterday. When I did a scan, it said I was infected by the win32/heur (1 infection) and Trojan Horse Crypt.fqt(2 infections). After AVG displayed the results, I hit the button for removing the infection. I thought it was already cleared by then, but just to be sure, I ran Spybot Search and Destroy afterwards. Spybot found one infection which I also removed after the scan was done.\r\n\r\nAfter that, I checked my hidden folders to see if there\'s anything suspicious. I found a folder named E_N4 which I can\'t delete.\r\n\r\nI did some research on win32/heur and trojan horse crypt.fqt and got some tips on how to remove them. Following those tips, I downloaded Malwarebytes and Super Anti-spyware on my computer. I tried to download combofix as well but I ran into a problem.\r\n\r\nCombofix downloaded the microsoft recovery console (not sure if i got the name right) on my computer. When I tried to run the recovery console, windows prompted me to verify that i\'m using a legal copy of it by entering a serial key. My problem is, I purchased my pc (second hand) from a former acquaintance. He didn\'t mention anything about a key (and I didn\'t know I would need one to begin with) but I guess he probably had it. I won\'t be able to contact that person anymore so I don\'t think i would be able to get it from him. Windows also said that the key associated with my pc has already been used a couple of times before and I would need a new one but i don\'t know how to go about it. I tried to activate my copy online and I can\'t remember what exactly happened (sorry, but i\'ve been going around in circles for two days now so my own memory\'s not functioning too well anymore), but my screen went blank, all the icons disappeared. I found a way around it and managed to restore my computer, but because of that, i tried to find other alternatives.\r\n\r\nGoing back, what i did was:\r\n\r\nran cc cleaner\r\nedited msconfig and set it up for normal startup\r\ndisabled system restore\r\nran the pc on safe mode\r\nran avg\r\nran spybot\r\nran malwarebytes\r\nran superantispyware\r\nemptied the recycle bin\r\n\r\n* i clicked the buttons for removing the infections after every scan\r\n\r\nrestarted the computer\r\n\r\nbooted it on normal mode\r\n\r\nran antivirus and antispyware programs one after another\r\navg found the 4 infections, spybot, malwarebytes and sas found one each.\r\n\r\nchecked the temp folder where E_N4 was located, it was still there\r\n\r\nchecked system 32 where another file/s B5E4BA was located, it was still there.\r\n\r\ntried to manually delete both. \r\nwas able to \'delete\' B5E4BA, but was denied access to E_N4.\r\n\r\ndownloaded unlocker to unlock the said file.\r\nit didn\'t allow me to delete it on the spot and advised me that the file will be removed upon next reboot.\r\n\r\nrebooted pc on safe mode\r\nran scans\r\nall 4 scan results showed no infections\r\nchecked the folders and manually removed the files\r\nemptied recycle bin\r\ndouble checked system restore, still disabled\r\n\r\nrestarted computer\r\nbooted in normal mode\r\ninfected files were there again.\r\n\r\nwent back to google to do some more searching\r\n\r\ntried to download avast as recommended by some users. \r\n\r\nwas able to download the installer and initiate installation but whenever i get halfway through, the installation would freeze and an error message would come out. (i tried to uninstall avg prior to this step, but it won\'t let me). i gave up on avast, and just tried to manually delete the said folders again. it failed a couple of times but while i was surfing the net and i tried one last time, it finally allowed me to delete the E_N4 file. \r\n\r\nAfter that, I ran malwarebytes to see if it was still somehow there but the result was negative, no infection found. Wanting to make sure, i restarted the computer, booted it up on normal mode, launched malwarebytes again, this time, it suddenly found 17 infections. \r\n\r\ni tried to save a logfile as a reference, but after i clicked on save logfile, the malwarebytes screen disappeared before i had a chance to click the button for removing the infection.\r\n\r\nsince i\'m not sure if the infection was removed, i checked the folders, they were back again (i managed to delete them after a couple of tries but after every reboot, they will be right back there).\r\n\r\ni deleted the files, ran malwarebytes, waited for the result, this time, only one infection found. \r\n\r\nremoved it, rebooted, folders back there again, deleted them, now i\'m currently doing an avg scan and still waiting for the result so i can send the log.\r\n\r\ni wish i can send the logs for the previous scans i did but unfortunately, i can\'t seem to find them anywhere. i think the older logs were overridden by the later logs (that were no longer showing any infections).\r\n

Firstly, i am running windows xp professional ver. 2002 with service pack 2. There are 2 instances of the trojan that avg free picks up but does nothing about. The first is a shell.fne file in a hidden folder in documents and settings\\user called locals~1\\temp\\e_n4. The second is an exe file in a hidden folder in my system32 folder, the folder and file are called a6da45\\b287e5.exe. On top me this the task manager, regedit and folder options have been disabled.

Using AVG antivirus and scans shows trojan horse crypt.grj but can\'t remove it. AVG won\'t scan at all now and the email scanner doesn\'t work. I can\'t access Adaware or Spybot to run them. I downloaded and paid for PC spyware doctor which found loads of stuff and removed them but not this one as problems still ongoing. when using Google it will show search results but when you click on one it takes you to something entirely different. Please can you help?

After scanning the whole computer x1 the above came up x2 n separate files. tried deleting. First time told me to reboot and I did. still there. down loaded avg virusclean kit, restarted comp on safe mode and ran programme. scanned again and found this virus x2 and another. got rid of the other + one trojan horse but other still remains in the Windows, System 32 file. I have regularly updated virus software. I haven\'t got 5 hours to work on computer as the pre paid system here is not cheap, and access slow. I hope you can help. thanks Penny
