Problem Summary: AVG trojans quaratined and now no internet

Last night I was on a jewelry forum and clicked on a posted photo so I could enlarge it and see it better. At that time another window popped up, I closed it right away so I don’t know what it was, but then AVG (free version) popped up and said there were two trojans I could either allow access or quarantine. I quarantined them. I also had another window pop up and tell me to save and close what I was working on so it wouldn’t get lost. I only had the internet browser (Firefox) open. I few minutes later I went to ebay and it wouldn’t connect to the server. I closed Firefox and tried to reopen it, but it wouldn’t work. When I click on both the Firefox desktop icon or the Explorer desktop icon, I get a message to either run or save like it wants to download, but neither saving or running works. When I click on the Firefox desktop icon, it keeps happening and no internet. I ran AVG free virus scan and it says I don’t have any viruses or Trojans like my system is clean. What happened and how can I fix it?

Problem Summary: Tracking Cookies, Etc.

I have had AVG for going on 2 years now and never had any kind of problems and my current laptop is not even a year old and recently I've been having all kind of problems. For one, I am getting a lot of AVG Resident Shield Alerts popping up onto my screen telling me I have multiple threat detection, naming them but when I right click on them, only gives me the options of add to exceptions or go to file. I find all of this very strange considering I do full computer scans and I do mean everything every single day. Example: I scanned not even an hour ago and everything was either healed or moved to virus vault which I never know if I empty or not, 5 minutes later, the Resident Shield Alert came up. Another serious concern I have is my computer screen is always turning white out of the blue and I have to turn my laptop OFF and restart it, sometimes it will come back and many times it will come back still white screen. I have NO idea what is going on but I know it is really and truly upsetting me.

Problem Summary: White-listed Virus

I have AVG Anti-Virus software (the free edition) on my computer. Which has kept this type of problem from happening before. This evening while I was on my computer the AVG Resident Shield Alert notified me that there has been multiple threats detected on my computer.

Under files infected it shows the following:
c:\\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe
c:\\WINDOWS\explorer.exe
- Both of these files show up multiple times!

Under infection:
Virus found Win32/Patched

Under Result:
Object is white-listed (critical system file that should not be removed)

How can i remove these without damaging my computer?

Our support team contacted Mackenzie with the solution of the problem described.

Problem Summary: Virus found as Win32/Patched but on white-listed files.

I have AVG Anti-Virus software (the free edition) on my computer. It has worked well in the past (I've been using it for about 6 years now!). This morning while I was on my computer the AVG Resident Shield Alert Notified me that there has been multiple threats detected on my computer. Again, I've never had a problem with threats on my computer as AVG is very good in what it does.

Under files infected it shows the following:
c:\\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe
c:\\WINDOWS\explorer.exe
- Both of these files show up multiple times!

Under infection:
Virus found Win32/Patched

Under Result:
Object is white-listed (critical system file that should not be removed)

I've checked up a few sites and the majority say to run a malwarebyte anti-malware software (which I am currently doing). The other solution that worked for a few people is to restore the computer to an earlier date. I have also tried this however it did not work (But this could also be as a result of restoring it back to yesterday instead of the beginning of the month?). I also ran another scan where it said that "C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe --> Trojan.Generic.5121605". I have attached the report of this scan to this email because it has a full detailed report of the scan itself.

Any help is much appreciated! I am a university student so the files on my computer are extremely important right now (its near exam time so the lecture notes are crucial!).

Thanks!
Amisha
