Problem Summary: Asus laptop x54c not shutting down or opening various programmes

The laptop is less than a year old. It will not restart, hibernate or shutdown. When attempting to use programmes such as google chrome, it will open the programme but stops me before the browser page, saying, "The server's security certificate is revoked." When using alternative Internet browsers such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, it loads the initial search I request but stalls indefinitely. The laptop refuses to open the recycle bin to clear the unwanted files and it will not show any signs of co-operation when I attempt to open iTunes. There is no issue of space on the hard drive, and other than the issues I have pointed out, the laptop functions fine, speed wise. I have 'McAfee Total Protection' installed on it and funnily enough it was the week prior to installation that the issues above manifested.
