I\'m running 64-bit Windows 7 RC1 on a homebrew PC. Intel Q6600 CPU (quad-core) at 2.4 GHz and 8GB DDR2 RAM. Other specs likely unimportant.

The last few days I\'ve noticed my physical memory being used up almost completely and 1 of my 4 CPU cores running at 100%. Opening Windows Task Manager, I see the culprit: wmplayer.exe. I don\'t even like Windows Media Player and I never have used it before. It might have some hooks with Windows Media Center, which I *DO* use, however, so I probably need to keep it on my PC if I am going to use WMC.

WMP isn\'t even running, so I don\'t understand why this process is eating up all *8GB* of RAM! Killing the process only causes it to restart again at 0KB of RAM, which then reaches 1GB within *10 SECONDS*. After a few minutes, it\'s back up to using all 8GB again. Why?

Cpu usage

Problem Summary: Cpu usage
When i use WMP to play movies/music the cpu usage goes very high 100% (wmplayer.exe)
I impossible to watch movies or listen to music when this happend, i must close the wmplayer.exe file and then the cpu slows down.
Sometimes my internet browser goes high also, i use Internet Explorer(iexplore.exe) the cpu also crashes when i use Firefox, i havent had that much problem with this latley.

There are several files that also takes alot of cpu sometimes and the computer crashes totally.
Explorer.exe
System
Taskmgr.exe also takes up much CPU.

I have tried to reinstall XP home but the problems are coming back. Also i have tried to format my HD.

Please help me!!
