Problem Summary: Autorun.inf Warning on Avast Pro 4.8 on USB drive/iPod

Hi!

A week ago, my antivirus detected Autorun.Inf Virus whenever I connected my Pen drive(Transcend-V10 16GB) & iPOD(Classic-160GB) to the USB port on my Thinkpad(R50-IBM). Avast, gave me options to Delete, rename and quarantine the files but on selecting the options, it failed to do so & repeteadly showed me the warning. I found the Autorun.inf file on my Pendrive but not on my iPod & my Local C drive. I then noticed that all the folders on my pendrive were not visible using windows explorer but the space available was indicating presence of files. When I used Bad Copy Pro to recover my files, it detected presence of an .exe files for all videos on the pendrive. I then recovered my files and formatted my pendrive using Transcend proprietary sofware-It did not help as Avast was still detecting the virus. I then formatted it using Windows & it too did not help. I then observed that my thinkpad had become painfully slow so I restored it to factory settings. I also have an external harddrive(Seagate-500GB) which also does not have the autorun.inf file(searched via cmd prompt via the following procedure which I found on Google:
-Boot your system in Safemode
-Open your flash drive via Command Prompt (do this via Start->Run->cmd.exe).
-Change your logged drive to your USB flash drive (e.g. if your flash drive is at drive E: then type E: on the command prompt then press enter)
-Type ATTRIB -H -R -S AUTORUN.INF then press enter
-type in “del autorun.inf” then press [Enter]-I did this for all, my iPod, my Local C drive, my external harddrive but either autorun.inf was not found or when found on my pendrive, the last step never worked for whenever I connect my pendrive again, avast detected the error. I also installed a small flash software called Flash Injector which detects & deleted autorun.inf from USB drives & makes a fake autorun.inf folder on the USB drive so that the virus cannot create the autorun.inf folder-Well, my friend uses avast & it still detects the virus on her drive although the same is not detected on mine. Now, I am getting a explorer.exe error which prompts me for debug everytime I start up...& the autorun.inf warnings have begun again...PLS HELP!!
