Problem Summary: computer is very slow

My computer is VERY slow. I orginally had 2 gigs of ram , but i recently installed 2 more gigs of ram = 4 gigs of ram. I am running Vista 32 bit on laptop. My computer is a little older than a year. I recently downloaded adaware and found that I had win32.trojan.dnschanger on my laptop. Adaware said it deleted the file with sucess, but I want to check the registry my self to make sure everything associated with that trojan has been removed. Could you possible give me some instructions as to where the file would be located as well as what to look for specifically.
